May is a brilliant month for great LCHF seasonal foods. Its good for your body, your wallet and the planet to be more mindful of what’s in season and shape your plate accordingly. Don’t miss out on trying these delicious SAF recipes whilst the seasonal food is at its most flavoursome!
Lamb is still in season so make sure you stock up this month. Our Lamb Ragu recipe is a family favourite and it is so easy to make in a large batch and then freeze portions for future busy weeks. Lamb also works really well in a curry, have a go at our creamy Lamb Curry for a beautiful LCHF ‘takeaway’ treat. With sunnier days on the horizon, it is the perfect time to try our Lamb Kofta Patties on your BBQ.
This month this fabulous herb comes into season. Mint is a really easy plant to grow in your garden or in a pot on a windowsill. Of course mint goes well with lamb and features in our Lamb Kofta Patties and Lamb Curry. However there are other great ways to make the most of this herb. For something a little different, have a go at our Feta and Mint Fritters. Use your fresh mint to upgrade your plate of greens and make our Creamy Spring Greens side. You can also use mint to flavour your water, pop a handful of mint leaves in your water bottle to infuse or make mint tea by pouring boiling water on a handful of fresh leaves.
Mackerel is a brilliant source of Omega 3 fatty acids which help to keep your heart healthy. This Mackerel Pate recipe is great for a quick lunch. Who says you need toast to enjoy pate?
Spring Greens are still in season and are brilliant value for money. This vegetable works beautifully in our Creamy Zest Spring Vegetables. If you need a simple seasonal side, you cant go wrong with this easy Spring Green side dish.
